Using an Instagram story viewer on Android with Chrome

Chrome comes pre-installed on most Android phones and is the simplest way to use InstaSPY. Samsung Internet, Firefox and Edge for Android work as well. You never need to download an APK file, which is important: APKs from unknown websites are a common way malware reaches Android phones.

On Android tablets and foldables the page uses the extra width, so you see more story thumbnails at once. Rotating the phone to landscape gives wide videos more room.

  1. Open Chrome and go to instaspy.ai.
  2. Type the username in the search box and tap Search.
  3. Open the Stories tab and tap a story to play it.
  4. To add a shortcut, tap the three-dot menu and choose Add to Home screen or Install app.

When you add InstaSPY to the home screen with Install app, Android lists it in your app drawer like a regular app and opens it in its own window without the Chrome address bar. You can long-press the icon to remove it, and it uses only a tiny amount of storage.

Chrome's Incognito tabs also work if you prefer your browsing history not to record the searches. Close the Incognito tab when you are finished and the visit is cleared from the phone.

If your phone is set up with a different default browser, such as Samsung Internet or Firefox, you do not need to switch. Open InstaSPY in the browser you already use and the steps are almost identical.

Where downloads are saved on Android

Downloads are available on paid plans. Chrome saves files to the Download folder in your phone's internal storage. Open the Files app (called My Files on Samsung phones) and tap Downloads to find them. Most gallery apps, including Google Photos, also show downloaded videos and images automatically, sometimes under a Downloads album.

To see recent downloads from inside Chrome, tap the three-dot menu and choose Downloads. If Chrome asks where to save files, you can choose a different folder; that preference is in Chrome Settings under Downloads.

Video stories download as MP4 files and images as JPG or WebP, depending on what Instagram served. Most Android galleries open all of these. If an image will not open in an older gallery app, open it in Google Photos or Chrome instead.

If you use Google Photos backup, check whether the Download folder is included in backup. By default only the camera folder is backed up on many phones. In Google Photos, open Library, find the Download folder and turn on backup for it if you want copies in the cloud.

Phones with a memory card can store downloads there instead. In Chrome Settings under Downloads, choose the card as the location if your phone offers that option. Moving large video files to the card keeps internal storage free for apps and updates.

Work profiles are a special case. If your company manages part of your phone, Chrome in the work profile saves files to a separate Download folder that personal apps may not see.

Common Android issues and how to fix them

Android phones vary a lot by manufacturer, but these fixes cover most problems.

  • Stories load slowly: Data Saver or Lite mode may be compressing media. Turn it off in Chrome Settings or Android network settings.
  • Video does not play: clear the cache for this site from Chrome Settings, then reload.
  • Download fails: check that your storage is not full and that Chrome has permission to save files.
  • Add to Home screen is missing: update Chrome, or use Samsung Internet which offers Add page to, then Home screen.
  • Battery saver stops playback: some phones pause video in power-saving mode. Turn it off while watching.

What you can and can't see on Android

Android shows the same public content as every other device.

What you can see

  • Live public stories and highlights
  • Public reels, posts and profile pictures
  • Playback on phones, tablets and foldables

What you can't see

  • Private accounts
  • Stories past 24 hours that were not saved to a highlight
  • Close friends stories or who viewed a story

No Android app or APK can legitimately open private accounts either. Stories last 24 hours unless saved as highlights, so if you rely on a particular public story, check it the same day and save it to your phone while it is still live.
